The results of the Global Mission Market

  • $1,919.00 = ELCA Malaria Campaign
  • $605.00 = Friends of Ngong Road - provides education& support for Nairobi children from families affected by HIV/AIDS
  • $348.00 = The Olivewood Project - assisting Palestinian Christians in the West Bank (Bethlehem)
  • $191.00 = Linens from the Lebanon Home in India - thru Lutheran Partners in Global Ministry.

Global mission focus—2010

The First Lutheran Global Mission Team has chosen a mission focus each year. For 2010, the mission focus will be The Kuwaa Mission.

The goal of this mission is to help the people of Liberia, West Africa. Villages and farms in this area were destroyed during a fourteen year civil war. Peace has now been restored, but help is now needed to restore the villages and lives of the Kuwaa people. The mission plans to develop breeding stock programs for fish farming and other livestock. They also plan to provide scholarships for vocational training and college tuition for those individuals that will help to sustain the mission. Building projects planned by the mission include: Potable water systems, sanitary facilities, road maintenance, schools, churches, and medical clinics. In an effort to assist The Kuwaa Mission project, we invite members of First Lutheran to support the mission in prayer and through financial donations. We will have a weekly sponsorship opportunity for our mission focus.

Members that would like to act as a sponsor may sign-up on the Global Mission bulletin board in the fellowship hall. You may designate your donation in memory or in honor of loved ones. The weekly sponsorship donation will be $25.00. Checks should be made out to “The Kuwaa Mission.” Your donation may be sent to the church office.

Minute in Mission

Update: Gallo Health Center, Central African Republic- The trusses to hold up the roof were built last week and we have found a medical director to manage the programs once the doors open! The project is really picking up steam and it is hoped that construction will be completed by the end of 2009. Please continue to hold this desperately needed health care project in your prayers.
